I teach the best topic to the best age group in the world--8th grade Science. I have been at Nashville Junior High since 2006.
I am entering my 14th year of teaching. I have taught 2 years of 6th grade math, 5 years of 8th grade math and Algebra I, and 6 years of 8th grade Science.
I was a 2016 Arkansas Teacher of the Year State Finalist.
I have been happily married for 31 years. I have one son who is a 2012 NHS graduate and currently a student at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR.
Science has been my passion for as long as I remember. Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent sitting in my father's physics lab while he worked on his experiments. Exploring the natural world has always been fascinating to me. As a teenager I wanted to become the next Jane Goodall. Over the years I have become somewhat of a geology and astronomy nerd (okay, so I am really just obsessed with science in general).
One of my proudest accomplishments at NJHS has been the co-founding of the NJHS Science Club with Mrs. Hendrix. We have a wonderful time with our members of the Robotics, Environmental Education and STREAM teams! This summer we took our first educational trip to Tampa, Florida and had a wonderful time swimming with manatees, snorkeling the Rainbow River, and dissecting sharks and squid while discovering the importance of the water cycle from inland to ocean. Next year we are looking forward to an engineering trip to Epcot and the Kennedy Space Center--come join us!
