I started working at Nashville Elementary in the 2013-2014 school year. This will be my second year with the Nashville Public School District. I am currently teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies in the 4th grade.
I began my teaching career in 2009 at the Mineral Springs School District. While there, I taught 3rd grade for four years until I came to the Nashville Public School District in 2013.
In May of 2009, I married Jade Hughes. We have one son, Kale, who was born in February of 2011. We have three dogs: Kamo, Darcy Belle, and Spinner Bait. We also have two cats named Gus and Tux.
I live and teach in Nashville, Arkansas. I will be beginning my sixth year of teaching this August. I chose the field of education for several reasons. I truly believe it is one of the most rewarding careers a person can have. I love working with children and watching them grow in so many different ways throughout the year. I come from a long line of educators in my family. I always knew education would be in my future, and I am very glad I chose it as my career. My career goals include obtaining a curriculum administrator license and eventually obtaining my National Board certification. I would like to one day be a curriculum coach, more specifically, a literacy coach. I love teaching literacy, and feel it is where I can contribute the most in my career.
On a personal note, I have been happily married for five years and we have a 3 year old son. We love to be outside, hunt, fish, camp, and spend time with our family and friends. My other hobbies include reading, cooking, and traveling. I am excited and looking forward to this school year!
